That sounds utterly amazing. And if you see a bear, I'll be jealous. I've done too many NPs in the Lower 48, plus Banff / Jasper, to mention and I've still not seen one in the wild. If you see some, please do post up some photos.

Have a great 2012.

Bears are great to see in the wild, until they're clawing at the window of your cabin. Good thing this one was easily chased away. To Stez: Stay Safe!

2011 - Bad:

Hubby leaving his job after 32 years (initally bad!)
I was made redundant from the job I really liked (most of the time)
Signing on, although fully entitled to do so, I found it a little humiliating
Leaving my 3 wonderful daughters in the UK due to job move*

2011 - Good:

Hubby getting new job in Beijing - moving house & life to Beijing on Wednesday - but bad side - see *
Getting a half decent redundancy payment
Paying off our mortgage
Great Niece being born

Hopes for 2012:
That job goes well for hubby
I can get work of some kind in Beijing
Our daughters remain happy & succesful in what they are doing in their lives
Continued good health for us all
that hubby & I have a fantastic holiday to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary
three daughters all come to Beijing to visit

You don't need to go to the wilderness of the NP's to see bears, I saw one last week when out cycling in a suburban trail 20 miles from Seattle. It's a pretty common occurrence. Could have done without it personally

Also they're all over Whistler should you ever go there in the summer.

We were there and never saw one.
However....I gave the wife a scare when we were walking along a wooded path. I went ahead and hid. As she passed I let out a big roar.

She wasn't amused.

Anyway....no plans for us this year. Think we might end up staying at home.

Happy New Year to you all

2011 started badly for me. My Mother-in-Law who was visiting us in Bermuda ended up in hospital with pneumonia. Around the same time, I took a fall and injured my back, so was unable to really look after her when she left hospital!

In February my parents were on holiday in New Zealand and found themselves involved in the Christchurch earthquake. Thankfully they escaped without any injuries.

The rest of the year went by uneventfully and I feel blessed to have spent another relatively healthy and happy year with MrBDA.

Looking forward to 2012 as we are returning to the UK after 6 years away. I'll probably loose my GCH as a result but I'm sure I'll survive!

Taking my kids aged 10 & 8, their grandmother aged 75 & my wife aged somewhere in between on a great European holiday...actually, we are still enjoying it.

Only going to articulate the good as the bad will always be around -not welcome wanted or worth talking about.

For all that have more downs than up's - I hope that 2012 is good to you & yours

When I first visited the US, I stayed in a Yosemite cabin and was constantly worrying about the possible fright I might get if I opened the curtains to the patio to find a big bear on the other side of the window! Talk about worrying myself silly!

Until then, I'll have to make do with T8191's bears on FT.

Can't wait till August!

First part of 2011 nothing earth shattering.

Downhill second part, it was an Annus horribilus,

Cutvacation short to discover that bank manager was skimming from the accounts.

Kid got sick and was misdiagnosed.
Mother hospitalized.
Fell down the stairs and injured my back.
Lots more that I really don't want to talk about...

2012:

Last tuition payment for one kid.... Unless he decides on grad school later on.

Son lands a coveted internship.

And am just sitting and waiting for more good news.
