2011 v 2012

Well its time for the highs and lows of 2011 and the things to look forward too for 2012.....................

Highs of 2011:

* Getting engaged en-route LHR-JFK in F

* Buying my first house

* Family holiday to SFO, HNL & LAX

* Getting a silver card for the first time !!

Lows of 2011:

* Getting engaged without my dad to speak too

* Spending my 2nd Christmas without my dad

* Having a very ill year and spending a significant amount of the year poorly and then ending up in hospital to undergo a serious operation with 3 months off work that results from that.

Looking forward too in 2012:

well........

* Wedding

* Honeymoon

* Better health

Anyone else care to play ?

2011 has been a very sad year, as my Mother died in April. Still, hard to deal with now.

I am very positive and looking forward to 2012.

Thanks to FT for making me smile. ^

Happy New Year to all.

I lost my Father in 1995... it still hurts and is difficult to deal with today. Time makes it only a little better, each year. You both have my sympathies!

On a more up-beat note, Happy New Year to all!!!

Happy new year to all!

2011 wasn't a bad year but it wasn't a good one either. A very close friend of mine lost her father due to cancer and having been through it before with a family member I know how horrible it is.

I am really positive for 2012. I'm at the gym 6x a week, hitting the weights hard and I am going to work as hard as I can to get the best possible grades in my exams. I'm also off to India which I am really excited about- albeit a bit nervous!

Breaking off my engagement*
Being of good health

Being able to travel more for work and pleasure
getting Silver on BA

(*a blessing in disguise after my ex fiancée cheated on me; gave me a clear reason to end things which has been for the better. Love makes blind sometimes)

It'll be 10 years ago in 2012 that I lost my dad and there isn't a day that I don't think of him, but rest assured that time is a great healer

A new job (hopefully)

We had a great 2011. Mrs Walker passed two sets of exams with flying colours, a lifetime ambition. I completed an expedition I had wanted to do for years. We sucessfully launched a new business unit helping young people find their way into work. There's life in us old dogs yet!

Condolences to those of you who lost someone in 2011. Good reddens to those who got rid of someone in 2011. And massive congratulations to those who found someone in 2011.

I have a good feeling about 2012.

This might sound soppy, but this forum was a highlight for me (and this is despite the odd intervention by the perpetually angry). I don't get here often enough, but when I do it is always very good. My friends tell me I am obsessed with making travel arrangements and that I missed my calling...but they don't know how obsessed you are. I do, and I thank you all for it.

Please have a prosperous and well traveled (bearing in mind global warming) new year.

Highs of 2011:
Flying NF for the first time (to IAH)
Visiting NASA HQ in Houston, and taking the Level 9 Tour - plus being taken to Ellington Air Force Base to welcome home the final ever Shuttle Crew
Visiting Big Bend NP in Texas
Hiring an ATV and driving for 8 hours solid off-road in Moab, Utah, in 98 degree heat, and only see 2 other people the whole time
Travelling to Germany and winning a major new account for my company
Celebrating my first anniversary with the Mrs at Amberley Castle
Going to my sisters wedding
Making my 1,000th post on FT (!)
Taking my second TP run on AA during a mad weekend away to Death Valley with my Dad

Lows of 2011:
Getting a stomach bug the night before my sisters wedding
Too many health worries and trips to Harley St
Working lots of long hours

Things to look forward to in 2012:
Weekend away to NYC in May, flying both ways on the BabyBus with parents and SWMBO
Extension to our home starting this month (well, I'm looking forward to it being finished)
Spending more quality time with family and friends
TP run number 3 this coming Feb with my Dad
Putting up the Christmas tree again next December and enjoying another 10 days off with my family - about the one and only time of the year when the Blackberry isn't flashing with a new email every 60 seconds... It's the highlight of Xmas!

Happy NY to all of my friends on FT. Let's hope we all have a good one...

2011 was special in that I moved to the US for an extended period of time for work, and stayed there for the best part of year. Previously, I had been several times as a tourist to mostly the touristy/glamorous parts like NYC, BOS, all of California, LAS etc, but this time I would be living and working in the "fly-over" states. I was filled with massive trepidation initially but ended up loving every minute of it. And having come back to UK for Christmas, I am now posting this from the T5 lounge, where I am really looking forward to flying back to the US.
