Hair Dye - banned item?
Good evening,
As most of you know, I'm moving to PEK and we fly next Wednesday. I intend using my full checked allowance as we're unable to send a shipment for a while yet.
I have some hair dye that I would like to bring, does anyone know if this is a banned item? No matter if it is, I can work around it but as I have it sitting waiting to be packed, I thought I'd ask as everyone on here is so helpful
Thanks a million!

A friend of mine says Grecian 2000 is allowed in checked luggage.
Having looked at the rules I can't see why it would be banned. Ammonia is the only suspect I should imagine and I can't really find anything about that, although ISTBC. You could always pack it on top then tell the check in staff. If they dont like it you can always dump it.

Technically, it appears that peroxide and other oxidisers are not allowed. I don't have any particular expertise, it may depend upon your particular dye and who is doing the asking or checking.

What does it say on the back in terms of the "dangerous goods" symbol?

Thanks, I've just checked the boxes and the dye contains hydrogen peroxide so I can't take it. Guess I'll either take the instructions out and simply buy the same one in Beijing & use the English instructions or pay a hairdresser to remove the ahem, few grey hairs I have
Thanks again ^
Thanks again ^
