Ireland and Avios
Firstly, I reckon Avios are like sheep. 1 avios or 100 avios makes no difference.
Ireland really depends on where. BA dont fly there but they do codeshare with EI and BE on flights to Dublin and Belfast from LHR and LGW. I think you have to be on the same day, there is no overnight within 24 hours. Good luck trying to find if it works, I haven't managed to get any that fitted my plans.

If you're redeeming, might as well go FCO-DUB non-stop on Aer Lingus, which seems to cost 10,000 Avios each way. On a revenue ticket, connecting at LON will enable you to earn TPs and Avios (although not many) on the LON-DUB segment (BA codeshare with EI). Also enables you to fly to ORK/SNN/BFS/NOC if any of those take your fancy.
As mentioned above, you'll have to call to book FCO-DUB on EI.
