Having beaten David M from BA217 in CW onto the People Eater, and then to IAD Immigration, and later tried to engage him in conversation at Customs, I couldn't comment.
He was clearly not interested in talking to a fellow Brit.
Perhaps he knew about Ed meeting the Bear?

Was your (unsatisfactory) meeting with Mr David M when he was foreign sec on an official jaunt? If so, did he get an official welcome party like G Osborne did when I travelled on the UD with him to IAD in April? (He still had to do US immigration in the normal way though).

Ah yes, that reminds me that two weeks ago I did try out a trick suggested on here. Boarding a 747 to JFK on a cloudy morning shortly before pushback, I put on a big pair of dark Prada sunglasses on the jetway. I did indeed get shown to my seat (2A). The previous hit rate on my five or six F trips on BA has definitely been below 50%. So not statisically significant on its own, but interesting and in accordance with the FT prediction (can't remember now who made it) that the dark glasses would create enough of an aura of mystery in that split-second when they decide if they can spare a cabin crew member to escort one to one's seat.
Anyway, as well as an 100% success rate in BA F escorting, I've also found you're never, ever questioned when striding down the business class fast-track security lane or boarding lane.
BA (and LHR in general) aren't too discriminatory - they'll check your boarding card to see if you're in the right lane. But at lots of other airports around the world, if you're young looking, not dressed in a suit, and are flying around in J/F you'll hear the phrase "Flying business today sir?" rather more than you'd like. Throw on some shades and you'll virtually never hear it. Strange but true.

Maybe he did - liked the pic! Rather sweet.

I'm not sure that "10 items or less" is really all that susceptible to misunderstanding as a result of the very minor error in grammar. And I am sure we all knew what the OP was getting at when he/she said: So in those circumstances is it necessary to belittle the OP, even though I am sure it was meant in jest? It does seem to be a regular theme on this board to pick holes in people's posts just for the hell of it, rather than debating the content and assertions. I'm not totally convinced this encourages a warm, friendly and open atmosphere.

To be honest I really appreciate being shown to my seat; the very personalised "Welcome on board" that you get from the CSD and then your F crew makes you feel very welcome and the helps the pre-flight service run much more smoothly.
