So I was on a flight yesterday, in a bulkhead seat in WT+, and the safety video was on. I was reading my paper and having seen it so many times before I was only half watching it. Ok, maybe quarter watching it.
Anyway, at the end of the video, a cabin crew member came to put my video screen away (its the fold down into/under the chair type). As she did so, she half-looked at me and said:
"I'll be testing you later"
I forced a laugh at her poor attempt at humour.
"I wasn't joking" she fizzed, and stormed off.
I was rather taken aback, and having a thick skin, it didn't really bother me, but something at the back of my mind thinks it should have. It just seemed a bit inappropriate.
Did she have a right to speak that way to me? Would others have been offended?
(I know this is probably a naive plea, but please don't turn this thread into another one of those "Is is wrong not to look at the safety video?" ones.
I know the content of the safety video. I could probably recite it word for word. Yes, I know, there are many different types of planes and different configurations and that this one may be different.
But its not. Its the same one I flew on 4 weeks ago and many times before that. I know where the exits are. I know where the oxygen masks will come from. I know how to put the emergency jacket on, and where the light and blowy-bit are. I know the brace position. I know when I can and cannot use different pieces of equipment and what a flight mode is. I'm not endangering anyone, including myself, by not watching it).

Like last week when that id**t had his iPad on right until the Runway with his earplugs in despite already have been signed by the FA that he should remove them. In case of an emergency landing I would like to see who performs better, those frequent flyers that know everything or those that fly irregularly but watch the video. I wouldn't give a damn to those Blackberry-lovers and stumble over them when making my run to the door. I think it is just impolite and rude not to spend those two minutes watching a video. But then who am I? There are enough people that think they are too important and to cool for school (it's the same people that turn on their iPhones as soon as the plane touches the ground)

Was there an exit in front of you? If so, perhaps she was annoyed that you were in a seat where in an emergency other pax might be relying on you to open the doors, and you'd chosen to ignore the safety demo.

We'll be easily able to spot Paralytic if (s)he is on our flight: the one at the front paying rapt attention to the demonstration, safety card in hand, ready to lead the rest of us in a conga line to the nearest emergency exit.

But, that CC member wasn't serving our cabin so I didn't see again. The rest of the flight was absolutely fine - good service and at least 3 water/juice runs between meals.

I have no doubt that she was only joking but making a small point at the same time.
I don't think she stormed off, your seat is in the first row of seats that she would be checking and she would have had to carry on checking seats until she met the next crewmember with time to stop.
Now if she had come back after takeoff and tested you, that would have been going too far.
Just my opinion.
