How early to get to LCY?

Did BA1 today from LCY. What a treat! The toffee and apple cakes served as part of afternoon tea were great - and I got two. Good CC. 
Departed early from both LCY and SNN and arrived at JFK, on stand no less than 40 minutes early. Wonderful! Got to the JFK SkyTrain within 10 minutes of leaving the plane. Still had some Skytrain credits to use up after having been on it quite a bit during the ash cloud (last time in NY) so the journey to Manhattan cost the grand total of $2.25.
