An “official POUG” is defined (for the purposes of this wiki) as the rate that appears in red on the MMB/BA app. It is NOT the rate offered at the airport (please see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html), or the rate offered when you click on the “Upgrade my class of travel with money” link from within MMB, or the “Upgrade to the next available cabin” blue/grey banner in the app.
Please add to this list as required, and include the month/year when the POUG is offered to you.
LON to Europe from ET to CE (typically £59-£69 for Band 1, £69-£79 for Band 2, £79-£89 for Band 3 and £89-£99 for Band 4):

- All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
- POUGs *ARE* offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
- POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
- POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
- POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
- After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

On the CE fares, is everyone sure that these are bargains? Unless the starting Y fare is next to nothing (or at least less than £50), some of the upgrades quoted sound no more than the CE R fare. For instance LHR-DUS is only about £150 each way in CE, so is £100 extra each way for CE upgrade that good?

There are set rates for airport upgrades and I've heard of no plans to change these any time in the near future.
On long haul it costs:
£150 to upgrade from WT to WT+
£399 from WT+ to CW
Short haul from LGW are £60, £80 or £100 depending on route. I'm about to go out but will list the routes each price is applicable on later.

£100 to upgrade from BRU-LHR and similiar, IIRC, for DUS-LHR from Y to J.
IST-LHR was more last year, but I am not sure - £150?
In December last year, I paid £125 for the upgrade to CE for LIN-LHR.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but given that BA miles can be purchased in increments of 1,000 (up to 19,000 per annum?) for GBP16 per 1,000 plus a GBP15 handling fee; i.e. 1,000 miles = GBP31 / 19,000 miles = GBP319, does anyone have any recent experience of good 'MFU with miles vs cash upgrade' scenarios?
Despite spending BA miles on a regular basis I've currently got circa 500k miles in our HHA, and having never actually purchased BA miles previously I sometimes suspect that purchasing miles might nonetheless be a good investment.
