Not first class check in, but business class. The benefits are herehttp://www.oneworld.com/ow/ffp/oneworld-status with Silver being Sapphire (if you see what I mean).

I do find it interesting that AA Gold is a lower status that BA Silver - maybe a case of the Americans upgrading everything

BA Silver and Golds also get the increased (free) checked baggage allowance that AA frequent flyers get (which is nice, as BA tells its passengers with oneworld partner cards to cough up $$$ for heavy / extra bags).

I have had the dragon at LAX call from downstairs to ensure that our son wasn't getting into the AA F lounge with my wife and I. He has to stay in the Biz section.
This was despite having AA EXP as well as BA and QF equivs all current... AND the lounge was less than half full.

On the positive side, F check ins are able to be accessed without issues as are the Priority lines.
In any case, after you are used to the BA F lounges the AA ones aren't really worth getting in a sweat about .
I recently tried to bring one extra guest into the FL at JFK, where I am a frequent visitor and most of the staff knows me. No luck.
While I agree that the food/drink offerings at the AA FLs don't in any way compare with the BA F lounges at LHR, I do like the spaces at both JFK and LAX. (ORD and MIA, OTOH, are rather cramped.)
