I guess this explains why some BA aircraft just never got anything installed. Hopefully they're the first to get it but this is BA so who knows what actually happens and how long it will take.
Once the first Starlink enabled aircraft are live are we to assume the wi-fi on the non-Starlink aircraft will be free? They can't have a paid version that's inferior to the free version can they?......

Theyll just make you have to be a Club member; Im sure theyll get revenue somehow that way.

As the existing service is provided via a different provider; surely they will still charge BA until such time as the kit that interfaces with their network is replaced
Can you really see BA paying such 3rd Party the fee with no revenue coming in from the passenger?

Question surely is.. when will STARLINK start charging to use their connections...?

All this happiness.

Beware.

The Press release uses the word "soon". And the connections do require BA to use some IT know-how.

I wonder what "soon" means in BA-speak??

I doubt it, this is British Airways 😊 Qatar still charge on flights that do not have Starlink.

This is excellent news, BA could not ignore what was going on in the sector. Let's see how quickly they implement 🤞

Isn’t the whole company that provides this star link wifi owned by Mr Musk?

That is one reason why I shall be resistant to using it

Porter Airlines in Canada uses this and it's great. I was able to watch youtube videos the entire trip from YYC to YYZ and it was like being on a wired connection. No pauses, no dropouts.

I had to enter my FF number to have ad free access for the entire trip if I didn't have a FF account ( but free to join) there was a single ad every 30 min. Not a bad tradeoff I thought. Otherwise, free to all passengers.

They are clearly very proud of this announcement given its been distributed in an email. Along with these that are in the email. I cant help but wonder how much fuel
will be saved if its a much lighter equipment install, thats gotten BA so excited!

Hopefully BA use this as an opportunity to reset peoples manners on planes and in lounges. ie. Your device is not a broadcast for everyone else to hear, put in your headphones or turn it off.

Easily enforceable if they really want to.

I am no fan of Musk. But there will be no money changing hands. I cant see the problem. If he starts to charge, then he can Musk Off.

No mention of the new lounge concept coming to LHR in 2026.
