I eventually got a reply from them. It said that if you can't check in online and get your boarding passes before arriving then they can't help you anyway. (I had forgotten this). So much worse than the main terminal really, they can't do any document checks at all.

The Menzies team called to board our flight had passes that didnt open our gate so had to call security. None of them had taken their hi vizes down so they couldnt go out and meet the aircraft. To save time, cabin crew escorted arriving passengers in. Then went back to the plane. Menzies staff shut the door as it was cold not remembering they couldnt open it. They called security again. One had radios to check in desks to bring hi vis vests to gate but there was no reply. Wait of 25 mins for one to go back and get in.
Nothing really to do with MAG.
But you crack on

Long-time lurker, first time poster. Flying out of MAN this evening and got chatting to a MAG employee, and apparently the Oneworld dream is not dead...
Any idea when BA are moving to T2? "They were supposed to move months ago but it should be any day now."
Any idea what the lounge situation will be? "There's going to be a few new lounges over there, they're being built at the moment. Virgin have got their clubhouse and BA will have a new one for their alliance... What's it called... Oneworld. That one."
Pretty sure I've read on this thread that this was now out of date information, but interesting that MAG people still believe this to be the case at the moment. That said, he did end with "It's Manchester, anything can happen!"

I am placing more reliance on Qatar and Cathay making it happen, and BA customers getting access via that route, rather than BA somehow leading the fold and being the leaders of the pack WRT T2 lounges...
QR is already second fiddle to Emirates in this regard, as the Emirates lounge is hands down the nicest one at the whole airport.

I can't see EK moving until the lounge is done and that's got to be 2026 earliest.
As for BA who knows, surely they'll use Escape first.

According to the OneWorld website there are two... As such, how likely is it that little old Manchester would be granted such a privilege of being provided with another? https://www.oneworld.com/airport-lounges
I'm not suggesting it wouldn't be super, instead - how likely?

I agree that OW is wishful thinking. I guess the flip side is MAN doesn't have enough traffic for a single OW carrier to have their own lounge, but probably has enough OW carrier presence as a whole.
I suspect many other airports have a "main player". But i don't know how these things work.

How many specific "OneWorld" lounges in existence? I don't mean accessible by that scheme, I mean those which are specifically branded and owned and operated by the OneWorld alliance?

Every other Qatar premium lounge globally is class of flying only, worth pointing out, and such a lounge at MAN would exclude status flyers in economy.
Currently AMS is served by AA, BA, CX, AY*, I2/IB*, QR, AT, RJ 8 OW carriers, and with the lounge being in the non-Schengen area realistically it's serving only six.
ICN is served by AA, CX, AY, MH, QF, QR, and UL so 7 OW carriers.
MAN T2 would have BA, CX, AY, I2, QR, AT, and RJ (BA and AY pending terminal moves) also 7 OW carriers. The case is there for a oneworld lounge.

Anyone have any first-hand experience of the OW lounges?
