Thank you
Flight was issued ON 23 May.

i would just wait for now. the policy has been updated many times since the current situation began, so at some point your dates are likely to be covered by the el al rebook policy. just do not accept the offered ba rebook for now.

you won't be due compensation if that's what you mean.

I'm not after compensation. I just want to fly at a time I need

ok. well by all means call now but i suspect you will only be offered ba options for now. invoking UK261 rights over the phone won't get you anywhere.

as i suggest, be patient and you should get the el al options in due course. just don't accept anything for now.

Hi Karfa,

Would your advice be the same for me, even though my flight was due to depart on 4th August (see post above)

I've tried on three different occasions to get a rebooking and each time i've been told there is nothing available and my only option is a refund - Which surely is against UK261? Due to one of the passengers being a teacher, only certain dates work due to school term time - I've happily suggested going on other dates in late 2025 or event 2026, but i've been told nothing is available availble for a rebooking on this route...

if you are within the dates of the current el al policy (see my earlier post) then call up and get rebooked.

So my flight ticket was booked on 5th June - for travel in August - i.e. after 23rd May so doesn't fall within their current policy... and all calls or chats to BA have resulted in them saying only a refund is an iption which I know shouldn't be the case...

I just want to be sure I understand the process. I am going to buy a TLV to LHR ticket for October 28th. I understand that there are risks the flight may not operate as it only begins Oct 26th. Is the refund automatic? What do I need to do to obtain a refund? I'm prepared for needing a non BA backup but wouldn't buy until later/closer to departure.

if the flights is cancelled then you are entitled to rebooking or a refund. You would have to choose at the time what you want to do, but certainly a refund will follow in a few days if thats the option you pick. You should be able to request a refund online.

A late purchase back up would be expensive, particularly as if BA arent flying there wont be many airlines that will be flying. If cancelled BA may well allow you to fly from Larnaca or Athens instead and you could book a flight to there from TLV.

If I were you as far as backup is concerned, buy an avios ticket if available for LHR- TLV for the dates as you can cancel and get the refund, by separate tickets with LY for the LCA-TLV legs but additionally the "protect insurance" ( around 10) this allows you to cancel for a voucher.

I think that was an error in ba.com which they fixed, I benefitted from a 12.50 business class ticket - it showed the full price, but only charged the European RWS price.
