Hi all,
Unable to get through to the EC to answer this simple question - so hoping the board can advise. I have an avios booking (return 24/12 - 29/12) to Madrid coming up - with fears over potential changes I have decided to go earlier so booked a new outbound on the 22nd that opened up. Am I able to cancel just the alter outbound and retain the return or do I need to cancel the whole trip and book another single MAD-LHR flight?
Thank you

When I tried this last year, I wasnt allowed and the reason given was that Id booked the old avios and 35 fee rate rather than the expensive avios and least money option.
For all of you with baited breath on this exciting post....got through to EC after 58 minutes and the v helpful agent easily and quickly cancelled the outbound and advised I would receive half the points and 54 of 70 total taxes back - which was a pleasant surprise as I was envisaging those 35 fees etc etc - gotta love reward flights - especially when business returns where circa 650 when booking.
I have half a flight in a FTV from BWC on an AA return from MEX to DFW which I cancelled when half flown. My understanding is half the avios and taxes are included, which i need to confirm as i had paid more avios outbound for Business and less inbound for Economy. But the agent just said 50 50 so will see when I can finally try and use it.
