That said, if I was SE England based or was a regular user of locations where there was an F lounge my view would probably be different.

Surely times are not that hard??
We are supposed to have a mixture of status levels to represent fully the community here on the BA board ... unfortunately it seems the best that could be arranged is that not everyone is a BA Premier

I recall a conversation with you and the lovely iWife where you were perfectly content with being Silver

I REALLY wouldn't bother!
BA don't value their Gold Card Members at all I find.
I've travelled at least 7 times since gaining Gold and never once had an upgrade.
My last flight was delayed, meaning I missed a connecting flight to Manchester. Ended up flying to Leeds Bradford and getting a taxi over to Manchester at a cost of 65. BA are only refunding 50 and refusing the other 15 with no reason why!

I NEVER expect an upgrade and I am always happy to sit in the class of travel I paid for and nor would I come onto FT stating I hadn't had any just because I was Silver (or Gold next year)

It's only a badge earned from a rewards programme. Some folk expect a life changing experience after receiving it.

Since becoming Gold I have been addressed by name at least twice!
But our only op-up was when we were Silver and booked into <shudder> WT+ as we couldn't UuA
Nah, I just go with the flow. What happens, happens. Usually, not a lot.

I suspect Tobias_UK was referring to >>> this post
I think the majority of us know that upgrades are rare events, and are based on the airline' needs rather than a 'customer status' metric.
