Headed to ZRH (Club World) next month from IAD - usually take a 747 for that flight, but the big birds aren't flying out of Dulles right now. My choices are 767 or a 777 - right now, I'm leaning towards the 777. Does anybody have any thoughts/opinions on which plane is more comfortable/better? Thanks.

The 4 class has guaranteed AVOD, but feels like a dormitory with a huge CW cabin with no partitions is 2-4-2 configuration - the 4 class also has guaranteed Next Gen Club World.
THe 3 class is better portioned, but doesn't have guaranteed AVOD nor guaranteed NGCW.
So overall, choose what you like best about the 747 and choose accordingly.

Actually you are wrong about the 777 and AVOD, of the 12 3 class 777's only 2 (+ 1 in the hanger) are yet to be fitted with AVOD. 18 of the 4 class 777's still have the old 12 channels system.

but I probably should have made clear that my first criteria was comfort - I really like that "lay flat" bed in CW on the 747. Does the 767 have the 180 degree lay flat bed or is it one of those "almost but not totally flat" beds? :-)

New club world seats (on the 777) are just an update to the original design (on the 767). The features are very similar, although I would say the NGCW is slightly more private. The seat still goes flat on the same way (upright, Z-position and fully flat). You can see a picture of old club world here:
