Using 99 App in Brazil
I couldn't' find other threads discussing the 99 app in Brazil so I started this one.
I just got back from Brazil and used the 99 app in several cities, including airports. Payment can be done through Paypal, so you can use international cards. Make sure you disable Paypal's conversion rate so you avoid DCC charges and your card gets charges in the local currency. The address system also seems to work better than Uber's in Brazil.
They have a UberX/Regular Lyft type of service called 99POP, and it seemed to have more availability than Uber. They also have regular taxis that go by the meter. One interesting feature is taxis that offer a variable discount over the metered price (marked -5% or -15%), usually available at off peaks times to encourage demand.
Anyone else have any experience with 99?

I was an avid user of 99 Taxi and Easy Taxi prior Uber, and even when Uber only had Uber Black. Very good service.
They are still good, but after Uber had started UberX, the life for regular taxi became difficult. I seldom use 99 now, but I still aprouve their service,

Since we have a dedicated forum for Brazil, which would appear a better fit for this thread, let me move it there. Ocn Vw 1K, Senior Moderator.
