Need help on a GRU transfer.
I've run into a slight issue with an itinerary I booked from Buenos Aires to Casablanca via SP. I cannot get a straight answer from either airlines and the Brazilian consulate in BA hasn't returned messages.
I'm travelling on a Canadian passport and currently have the following booked on two separate tickets:
- EZE --> GRU arr: 1:30am 9/30 - Qatar Airways
- GRU --> CMN dep: 5:20am 9/30 - Royal Air Maroc
I've just found out that my 90 day multiple entry Visa to Brazil is only valid for 90 consecutive days (as opposed to 90 days of travel into and out of the country, which I was told originally). Basically, I cannot re-enter Brazil - even for four hours as my visa is expired and cannot be extended.
Can anyone help me out with the following:
- Is it possible to have a bag checked through across airlines (or is there a service to have this done at GRU). This would be Qatar to Royal Air Maroc.
- Does this 4 hour layover (overnight) still sit under the 8 hour and less transit visa remaining on airside?
My last resort is to ship home a box of my gear and only keep a carryon with me for the remaining three weeks of my trip - it just seems like a fairly costly and inconvenient way to work around the issue... hopefully I can get something sorted to check the bags?
I've used this website a lot for reference in the past years, first time posting. Some very knowledgable people on here I appreciate it!

What passport do you hold? A 90 day multiple entry visa is not the usual one given to US passport holders? Australian?
Is it possible to extend your 'prazo' at the PM for another 90 days (as US passport holders can)?

I'm on a Canadian passport.
I was issued a "Temporary Special Visa" because of the World Cup in June/July. The Brazilian Consulate in Ottawa recently confirmed that my visa expired 90 days after the day of first entry and the visa cannot be extended. They have suggested to speak with the Brazilian consulate in BA but they've not returned phone calls or emails.
Hopefully something can be done to sort out my checked baggage situation.

Qatar states they interline with all carriers (but only if issued on one ticket I think): http://support.qatarairways.com/entr...line-bookings-
Checking in at EZE might create some issues as I presume they outsource the check-in. Call Qatar to find out and have them make a note in your PNR that you are connecting to xxx etc. and checking through luggage. You still need to be prepared for it not to work. You don't need a visa to transit in GRU. I would go with the carry on - easy enough for 3 weeks.

As it's written on all WC visas, it's only good for entry until July, 31st. You'll need a new visa. Check the website of the cconsulate in BA to see the precessing times for the visa. Last I checked, it took about 5 business days to have the visa processed in BA.

You are cutting it close but you probably have a enough time to get a visa, especially if you have a consulate in your city. I live in the USA and I think I got my visa in under 2 weeks and I had to mail my passport into the embassy.

Thanks everyone for the responses, huge help.
I think it's going to be easiest to just bite the bullet, ship home my bag and carry on the final three weeks of gear for my travels. Last thing I need is sorting out a lost/unclaimed bag in Sao Paulo while I'm wanting to just enjoy myself.
A new visa for Brazil (although good for 5 years, for future use) will still be significantly more than shipping a bag or box to Auckland from either BA or Santiago. If all goes to plan this time next year I'll have my NZ citizenship anyway so won't need a visa for Brazil.
Again, thanks for the advice!
