GRU Terminal 3 opens
I see the new terminal 3, first phase, is now open. What a difference from the dark caves of terminals 1 & 2.
Here are some photos.

I am not sure who all will move over, definitely TAM and one world partners. Emirates is. I thought star alliance would remain in the old but I see Swiss has moved.

http://oglobo.globo.com/economia/oit...-copa-12450465 says Lufthansa, TAP and Swiss will be the first, followed by Turkish, China, United, Emirates and Air Canada. What counts, of course, is how the terminal, and the rest of the airport, is run. I saw one article stating that no one would move by the time of the World Cup.

Since the tag flight UA makes between GRU and GIG, which I normally am on, will be going away after June 6, this will be nice.

One small step for mankind. Keep in mind there's still a lot of GRU that needs to be refurbished. I'd be happy if there was air conditioning at the baggage claim areas, and an efficient transfer desk. GIG's Terminal 2 is updated, to a degree, to accommodate virtually all international flights, and Terminal 1 seems to be undergoing a long process of remodeling, with many corridors lined with boarding when I passed through in early April.
At least there's progress. The work on the airport in Fortaleza, which we use a lot, was first scheduled to be done in time for the WC and will now be done in 2016.

I see that this will affect my flight out of Brazil in a couple of weeks, seems like I'm now connecting from domestic GOL flight arriving in T2 to Lufthansa departing from T3 with 1:05 connection time. Has anyone been through the new terminal already? Does it take long to make it from T2 to T3?

Sorry for replying to myself here, but now I'm properly worried that my seemingly legal connection may be broken. Looking at the MCT for GRU Domestic - International G3 to LH I see the following:
Perhaps someone who has more experience than me at this can correct me, but to me it seems like my connection is legal because it defaults to the 1 hour rule, but if it had been a T2 - T1 connection or even within T2 it would have been an illegal connection. Can it be possible that the MCT is just not updated with T3 in mind?

In addition to that, as I mentioned I am starting to suspect that the fact that I am connecting to T3 may be the only thing that makes my short connection legal and I'm naturally curious if that is due to connections to T3 being very smooth and fast or if it could be a mistake that the MCT is not updated for T3.

I'll likely be going thru T3 soon but I think some of the factors mentioned in the other thread are still applicable regardless of how "smooth" T3 is supposed to operate or how close it is to the other terminals. These things take time if they need to be done: collecting any checked bag and rechecking if not interlined, getting boarding pass for international flight at GRU, and going thru passport control just to name a few. Because the new Terminal has 53 check points ( I believe I read) doesn't mean they will all be staffed. And was that for incoming or out going pasengers? The existing ones in T1 usually are not, so lines can and likely will still form. And all of this is still based on the assumption that your domestic flight is on-time. Personally, I would book an earlier flight to GRU. If you use T3 before I do, please let us know how it goes.

This link has some early reviews/responses on the new T3 at GRU. Lack of sufficient signage and the largeness of the place seem to be prominent.

This link comes into a thread where the pics posted in the OPs message are repeated, but then there are several more pages with many additional photos of T3 at GRU.

I looked at TAM's site, there is absolutely no indication about which terminal they use now at GRU, is it wholly T3 or T1 domestic, T3 international...
The latest news there are from 17 April
IME, there is a free bus (landside) connecting the terminals (I had to go from T1 to T4). It takes about 10 minutes, plus 10 minutes wait. I suppose with T3 will be something similar.

T3 is supposed to be directly connected to T2 (and by extension T1) via moving walkways, so no need to take a bus. I'm not sure if by "directly connected" they mean both airside AND landside or landside only.
Yea... there's been no indication so far that Delta will be moving to T3.
