transfer GRU to CGH

Wasn't sure whether to post here or in the Other NA/SA Airlines forum...
I need to transfer from GRU to CGH later this year. Arriving into GRU on UA and my next flight from CGH is a domestic on TAM. I know there is a free bus for TAM departures, does the arriving flight need to be on TAM as well? Also what will immigration and traffic be like on a Sunday around late morning/noonish? TIA

I think you are entitled to the TAM bus, but there is also a regular airport shuttle bus that goes from one airport to the other (about R$35). Traffic on a Sunday shouldn't be so bad. Most international flights get in very early in the morning, so would be through passport control, etc. by mid-morning.

Thanks for you response. I will be need to transfer on the same Sunday as the Brazilian GP. Will that make a difference?

Also coming back a few days later I again need to transfer from CGH to GRU, but I have about 5.5hrs in the evening. Is there enough time to visit Senna's grave site at Morumbi Cemetery? TIA

I would think most people would already have arrived in the city for the Formula1, with not so many arriving same day by air. I don't live in S.P. and so can't comment on any extra vehicle traffic between GRU and CGH on F1 day. Afaik Interlagos is not near those parts of the city that you pass through to get between airports; it is kind of south. GRU is kind of north-east. Congonhas is in the city center (look for the Brooklin/Campo Belo/Moema neighborhoods on a map).

And here's a map:

You are entitled to TAM if any you have any segment on TAM. just show your reservation on the bus. Takes 1 Hr is little to no traffic
