One other thought - have you tried phoning the ICC and asking about availability on SQ (either MAN-SIN or LHR-SIN)? There is plenty of availability SIN-BKK, and reports recently have suggested BD can see SQ availability that no-one else can. Not very likely at a peak time like that, but no harm in asking...

Fair point - could be a bit risky

But MAN was broadly fine last year
Not like those southern softies in London :)

beardotravel Sep 27, 2011 9:02 am

MAN-SIN would be great - but I thought they didn't like releasing the 777ER business seats to anyone other than Krisflyer members

I'll call the ICC to find out though.
Flew that route last Nov and the flights were two of the best I've ever had

Thanks again for the help

They don't/didn't, but see this post by denCSA for a glimmer of hope...

Yes after all these years it is now possible!
Just changed a J redemption booking from TK J to SQ J
SGN - SIN Then....
SGN - LHR on SQ308 the 0905 B777W
availability was ok for 2 pax in J on both dates I asked for but not on the 2 later direct flights but was available on the afternoon flight to FRA
I'll watch the re ticketing like a hawk!

Good idea.. I tried this with bmi and they said it wasn't possible except for bmi operated flights. :td:

I might try again later with a different agent! :D

UK to Argentina

Hi,
I've searched the site and tried the ANA tool but couldn't find the answer so hoping a more experienced user will be able to help. Is it possible to fly UK to Buenos Aires EZE and back to the UK from Mendoza MDZ or the other way round with DC miles. Looking at next summer for two business seats. Is there anything else I should be looking at ie two one ways, cheap flight to escape the APD (I'm close to Bristol) or any other tips would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Neil

Few things come to mind
a) fly from Ireland/Europe to save departing APD
b) no Star airline flies to Mendoza - buy a ticket to BAires and use miles from there
c) I dont think TAM releases seats that far in advance
d) There is no YQ ex-Argentina - a huge discount - so book two one-ways
e) You will be initially hit with an ex-Argentina VAT-type tax on your ticket - this should not be charged - and you will have to fight for that.
f) Try running a search on Aeroplan.com and/or Continental.com - it handles connecting itineraries much better than ANA.
g) Transatlantics on US Airways will not have a fuel surcharge - saving hundreds of GBP per ticket.

Just a few points to add to rankourabu's comprehensive answer.
Mrs YorkieFlyer and I flew LH from FRA to EZE last December in J, you might also find availability in J from IAD to EZE. TAM do fly via Brazil but no seats till 6 months before departure

You could also consider Cordoba-Sao Paulo-London on TAM for the return. A bit closer to Mendoza and may be an option depending on your plans.
I recently booked a trip to AR, for whatever reason the TAM YQ ex-Dub was a lot less than from other European cities.
And with no TAM YQ on the return (only if booking as 1 way) , the trip was significantly cheaper that Lufthansa.

I believe that it's ex Brazil that there is no YQ, not Argentina , check ITA for confirmation. An idea would be Argentinian domestic flight to Iguazu for the falls there's even a Sheraton, then cross land border and fly from Iguazu Brazil home YQ free!
