BMI PULLS OUT TWO WEEKS EARLY
08:50 - 14 February 2008
Dozens of passengers will have to change their Easter travel plans after airline BMI axed flights between the Highlands and London Heathrow more than two weeks earlier than expected.
Bosses announced in January that the airline was pulling out because of increased taxes.
They said the service would continue until March 29 but have now cancelled flights from March 13, blaming falling bookings since the announcement.
---------
What a sneaky thing to do, announce one date to end the flight, sell tickets on that basis and then change the date again. Maybe bookings were down but that happens when flights are stopped - and as this means that flights will stop just before Easter I can't believe there weren't some bookings.
Had an older relative get a call today - they couldn't understand it - as English was the second or third language of the agent - but probably won't be able to travel on the hopeless Be service.
Overall I think this reflects very badly on BMI - it's so sneaky that a quick search of their website showed up nothing - and when looking in on line reservations, it still says that there are flights to 30 March.
