Etihad codeshare
We are looking to go to the Middle East for a few days in November. It was a possibility to go with Qatar Airways to benefit from the points. However i have just been on the bMI site and looked at the flights to Abu Dhabi. There is a 2 per day codeshare using Etihad equipment. It is quoting a fare of 396 approx in H class. Would we earn miles on this fare basis and are Etihad close to becoming a *A member? Would we get miles on a Etihad non-code share flight?

Miles being awarded is based the fare type and the operating carrier i.e the metal your flying on. So if it's not bmi or a diamond club partner, you get nout. Something to always be wary of! Sorry.

That said, it does say on the booking page (flybmi at least) that it is a codeshare and whom its operated by, so if one is making the booking for themselves, it shouldn't be as much of a surprise.
With the Qatar Airways codeshares, Qatar became a Diamond Club partner, so if TransAero became a partner in the same way, it would avoid this problem. It would certainly be nice to recieve FF miles for a flight rather than 'balls'! Given the fuss that bmi/marketing have made of this route, it is possible this will happen.
Note however that there are plenty of other BMI codeshares that aren't partners, e.g. Gulf Air and so earn nout.

"After gathering certain amount of balls, you'll get right for one free flight or raise service class of the flight chosen by you. We hope it's a good reward for your constancy."
Where do I sign up?
