Unexpected zeroing of level miles - how does this work?

I thought level miles were only zeroed at then end of each individual membership year, which for me is late July.

However, my recent EDI-DXB excursion took me over the Gold requal level on the outbound leg: level miles were zeroed, and now the return leg miles have posted on to my account. Can I rely on these to start my count towards requalifying next year, or will I be zeroed again in July?

Another thing - have paper statements finally gone forever? If so, then bmi need to do something about upgrading the e-statements on the website, for example including running totals, requal levels and dates.

That's not normal - miles should just keep piling up until the end of your membership year... I'd pick up the phone if I were you.

I had a feeling that the first time you qualify for Gold your membership year date is reset to the date that you qualified and you do start again from zero with the new membership year.

If you are already Gold then as stated above you just keep collecting until the year is up, at which point you start again.

That certainly makes sense, but I thought Grayst mentioned requalification

Yes, I was already Gold and am requalifying.

A paper statement to end-Feb arrived a few days ago saying "10300 miles to requalify", so I will keep an eye on the situation until the next statement arrives. Assuming I still get one.

The thought occurs - if they have zeroed me *AND* reset my requal date to now then I probably won't be complaining - my C-class DXB-FRA-EDI miles will then count towards next year, rather than being "wasted".

Does this logic make sense? Plus, have they made a mistake or is this a change in the scheme?

Sorry should have paid more attention.

I'm contact the DC to see if I can get my membership date bought forward, so I can start collecting for next year, has anyone had any experience in this ??

Hmmm - now the website is back up, I see my membership year has indeed been switched from July to March - so my return from DXB indeed counts towards future requalification.

Nice one, BMI, I approve - assuming it is deliberate!
