When do the 25% tier miles post?
Hi all!
Does anyone know when the extra 25% bonus tier miles from the star alliance promo for UK members will post?
I still haven't recieved my goody pack yet either...humph!
Finally why is it every time I fly C class transatlantic with UA the system never recognises this? anyone else have this problem?

One imagines that it will be the same mechanism that delivers the 25% Gold/Silver bonus destination miles... in that case, it's usually about 3-5 days into the next month.
I didn't realise that it was a 25% tier bonus in this case! Are you sure about this?

Ahhh,
maybe I misinterpreted the link,
http://www.staralliance.com/star_all...40129Star.html
what do you think, are they in addition to what we already earn? I thought that the 25% bonus we currently earn doesn't count towards status. But would value other opinions in the interpretation of this.

Rather than the newroom article, take a look at 25% Tier... the pop-up on:
http://www.ukstatus.co.uk/information.aspx
(Sorry it's a java link - so, it's hard to link directly to...)
It clearly says:
Members of bmi diamond club and Miles & More currently receive a 25% tier bonus on all Star Alliance flights as part of their standard programme benefits and will continue to earn their tier bonus according to the applicable programme rules.
And also:
Tier bonus may not count towards status (may vary by each airlines frequent flyer programme).
My interpretation is that these bonuses do not count towards status, they are simply awarded on the basis of status.

As always thankyou GoldCircle. Although it is bad news, it's best to be clear about this, and I agree with your interpretation.
By the way, I was looking at the U/G cert rules, and it says that either U or L class fares will be upgraded to business on bmi. What are these as I thought that Y was full fare economy that allowed entry to New Economy?

Y and S are full fare economy on shorthaul.
U and L are full fare new-economy on long haul.
Presumably, this in the new wording to allow upgrades from:
1. economy to business in shorthaul
2. economy to new economy in longhaul
2. new economy to business in longhaul
In shorthaul, a Y class ticket (so called Business Economy) will get you a seat up front. Not sure if this applied on longhaul services. Anyone?

Have you noticed that t seems to be you and I discussing this GoldCircle,
. Paging the rest of the bmi clan...anyone out there?
I have travelled using a Y fare transatlantic and while this allows entry to the New Economy, there is no way they allow you go further forward than that. However I think that's fair enough.

Not really, as *G allows priority on U/G waitlists across the board, and access to Lounges internationally, (really important longhaul), and of course more miles for redemption. I doubt they could reduce the going rate by 25% for all these opportunities. It's simply maintaining customer loyalty.
If you then compare DC to the likes of MP, who at 1P award a 100% bonus, the 25% bonus is not that much, but it is still welcome! this just allows the DC'ers to redeem a little bit more.

Seriously though, for those on laptops short links are much preferred.
To make a short link:
(URL=http://TYPETHELINKHERE)then put the referring text(/URL)
but replace the round brackets () with square brackets [] throughout.
It's as simple as that!
ETA: does anyone know how to turn UBB coding off for a message - ie how I could have shown the above without having to replace the brackets?

Wingnut, maybe the [url=http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ubbcode.html]code tag[/ul] would do the trick?
As to UA giving 100% mileage bonus to elites... what is the minimum mileage awarded on UA flights and what is the minimum mileage on BD flights??? All in all, it's much of a muchness, as long as you actually fly.
And BD's award chart is pretty reasonable compared to some...
