BMI status match for BA Gold ?
I am BMI nothing (not yet joined) but BA Gold. I gather BMI is reasonably liberal with status matches but who does one contact and what exactly does one have to promise by way of future business ? I cant even see a phone no. for the Diamond club on the BMI website.

The half wit I spoke to was called Andrew Dutton who basically could not give a monkeys about getting new business for his employer who do actually need it.
His attitude sucked and was basically giving me the impression he did not think I was up to what is required to hold elite status with BMI.
What I didnt tell him was that I spend with KLM in year, more then he will eran in the next 5 years, and thats assuming he is well paid.
I have gone to Star Alliance via ANA who offer me great service and routes for my Asia trips.
LH also offered to comp me as well and they too were extremely helpful and showed every effort to win my business. They will as I will use them for 80 flights a year I take in Europe.
I will of course make sure I fly from Newcastle to Dusseldorf rather than use BMI from that Naff airport Teeside, to hook up with my trip schedule

Hi Steve
Unfortunately DC have a number of complete and utter idiots answering the Gold Card line. In my experience, thankfully, there are equally as many efficent and polite staff. My advice, having been DC Gold for a number of years now, would be to ask to speak to a Manager - hopefully this should get you somewhere. A number of my colleagues have had their BD Gold comped - especially those with BA Gold - without significant hassle. It's just a shame that some of these DC people don't appreciate the potential business they are throwing away with their petty and frankly stupid attitude!
Good luck...

That's rich coming from someone who can't even spell Teesside.

[edit] Though I have to agree about the naffness. The bloody lounge was closed yesterday at 0930. Of course they omitted to tell us until we were through security.

I'll let these comments speak for themselves. No doubt BD will cope without you.

There's nothing wrong with Teesside - short walks to and from the plane, friendly staff, the staff in the Diamond Club have to be the best I've ever met - like BD staff used to be and there are no delays as there is never anything else happening. I much prefer it for my occasional visits to the NE than NCL where everything seems to be a problem unless your off on a package tour.</font>

I'll second all that , particularly about the lounge staff : quite something especially compared to , say , Dublin....

I am honour bound to defend the DC staff at DUB. They are a nice helpful friendly bunch. Nothing is too much for them. They have pulled me out of a hole on several occasions.
There is, however, one member of staff who could use a slight attitudinal adjustment. It must be this young lady you had an encounter with.

It is no hassle at all to get comped. Just send in a membership application form with proof of BA Gold membership and 2 *A bps. I got my BD *G about three weeks later.

I know I've asked this before but... Anyone with recent experience of getting KL (or NW for that matter) Platinum comped over? Probably not something I'm going to do just yet, but it looks like my travel patterns are changing, and *A will fit much better before much longer...

stut welcome to the dark side
They're a bit pickier about comping from KL than from BA and they wouldn't do it for me - not least because it was obvious from my Flying Dutchman statements that I never fly paid C. You probably have more lucrative spending patterns than me and might have more luck. In my case, UA comped by to *G (Premier Executive) in the blink of an eye so I used the UA*G card (or my KL PE card) for a year to get into the lounges while I built up my status on BD. As it happens, I ended up keeping both UA and BD accounts in Gold.
Good luck!
