StarAlliance membership starts in summer 2000
LH's online march newsletter officially says, that British Midland joins StarAlliance in summer 2000 (together with Mexicana).

the newset LH information (just read it on my flight back from the Catman-Do-II: British Midland joins StarAlliance already per april-1-2000 (together with Singapor). Austrian, Tyrolian, Lauda join StarAlliance also officially by april-1-2000 ... with LH's ff-program (miles&more) they count as StarAlliance members already per march-26-2000 (that's when European airlines change to summer-timetables).
