Seat Selection - I class reward booking
Have an I class reward booking.
Manage my booking offers select seat. But when I select seat and click on save it does save the selection.
Is this normal?

Not sure if I understand you, "it does save the selection"?
If your question is "Can I select a seat on a BMI 'I' class fare using the Lufthansa Manage My Booking tool" then the answer is yes - both in domestic Flexible Economy or in a Business Cabin on a midhaul.

The bmi site has a bug (not the only one 
) when you try to select a seat on an I class redemption. Whenever I try it seems to work but when you hit the save button it dumps you out back to the page saying you haven't selected any seats yet. Been this way for ages and I'm not holding my breath for a fix.
You used to be able to select seats via the LH site but I'm now not seeing that option either on an upcoming domestic I booking.
If you're keen to reserve a seat you may need to wrestle with the ICC.

just booked my seats for next flight and seemed to be able to book seats for all sectors.
enter the ref number and name in the single booking and viola!^

I know it's not quite what was asked, but I've never yet been turned down for a seat assignment on a business redemption when calling the operating airline directly...

Didn't know you could use the LH site, just been on and selected the seats for my BMI flights coming up soon. 
Interestingly I am off the the states and flying US Airways lhr-phl then phl-den. the seat map on the US site shows different seats avaliable than the LH site does.
