And they might say that one must have 1000 miles, not just 1. When the loophole closes I'll worry about what's next.

Well, as well as immediately solving a work around - it put a few miles from a rental that is not currently crediting to my *A account to good use, and showed me that my system can work. No loss to me, and a positive benefit easily obtained.

The first time you used it, did you specify an ANA-operated route in step 2? That's the secret sauce; if you search immediately for IAD-LHR or IAD-CDG, you only get the digital equivalent of a blank look.

It's a bit mean on ANA's part - its not as if there is any marginal cost to them of us all using their website. That said, I would happily pay £10 a year for ANA if it was chargeable, and that is the equivalent cost of crediting a cheapo hotel stay, car hire, points transfer given it sets you up for 3 years.
Workaround is still working! Thanks for making my week!

Just for newcomers to this thread, a reminder that post #1 has been updated to show the workarounds.

I took up another member's very generous offer to transfer in one mile to my ANA account. That fixed things...for a while. As of this AM I am now again unable to search partner flights - except via the "workaround"

Looks like their web team may be cracking down. The workaround may be in jeopardy soon.

2 miles doesn't work either. So is it the 100, or the Hertz credit event that is the magic key ?
