Question About Refueling Charge

I recently rented at YYZ only for a couple of hours and 70kms of driving. On my contract was a note suggesting that if I would be driving less than 125 kms that I should not bother refueling and let Avis take care of it for a flat fee. I took their advice, and the fuel charge was $18.00. I know that fueling costs from rental companies were high, but this note led me to believe that it might be reasonable.
Does anyone know if this is in fact the flat charge, or did they make a mistake? I know that Budget has this same service for $9.95

Thanks in advance.

You should call customer service and ask. But because gas prices are so high, I always fill the car up upon return. You can ask the Preferred department to put it in your profile in the remarks section and then also make sure it is known when you place your reservation.

The contract didnt say what the flat fee was?
Why did you assume it would be reasonable??

Nope, at least I didn't find it. Why did I assuem? Cuz i'm not smart!

The more I think about it.. The more reasonable it sounds....
for 125kms, it could easily take $15 in gas, so $18 isn't unreasonable at all....

125 kms probably means about 10 - 12 litres of gas depending on the car and where you are driving. Cost of 10 - 12 litres is $ 10.00 - $ 12.00 and they are charging $ 18.00 which is higher but not day light robbery in my opinion.

(Note: I have not done the C$ to US $ conversion not knowing which the OP was charged and also because the delta is only 6 or so percent now a days!)
