Did you, for yourself, also account for disparity on mileage between the various codes? Some of the codes I use are very good, but then have a daily limit of miles, while other codes cost more but have unlimited mileage.

Usually they are unlimited so I did not pay attention to that. But I normally use the Citi leisure code which is unlimited and the AARP readers code was unlimited.

I am in Toronto. Avis has started asking for employee ID for most corporate codes. I was successfully using one for quite a long time, but that has now stopped and the one I have is not providing nearly the same deals.

Is there a list of working discount codes for folx living and renting in Canada that do not require ID or verification?

I used this for quite a while, but they are now asking for it as a matter of course. The "free ride" as Bombardier employee is over (there's a joke in there for anyone who lives in Toronto and knows they have yet to deliver the streetcars that are desperately needed and were supposed to be in service on our public transportation system atm)

was thinking of using the bombardier code because it drops it in half compared to a few other codes. 95 for two days vs 180 for two in nyc. does anyone know what happens if they ask for your id but don't have it?

You will likely be charged the walk-up rate which will be far higher than anything else you could have booked if you would have used a code you were eligible for. Better to avoid the hassle and use something you actually qualify for.

The citi leisure travel wont need an ID, you say you travel agent gave it to you.
The AARP readers one is just from an ad in the magazine so no ID either.

Hi all, I'm renting in Lisbon airport for 6 days...but need an automatic and the rates are not good. Any suggested codes or advice?

What dates? What are the rates you're finding that "are not good"?

Have you tried AutoSlash?

I got a really good rate using the Citi Leisure Travel AWD (better than AARP). Is it intended to be available to the general public via travel agents associated with Citi? Or is it for those travel agents themselves? TIA.

LAX

It is indented for employees of Citi traveling on leisure (as opposed to company business).

I realised something lately. When I use a AWD code without logging into my Avis account I get a price lower than when I am logged into my Avis Account. Is it possible to book the car without logging in and then add the booking later into my profile?

This is something that can be annoying with Avis' (and sister company Budget) website. I would recommend checking your Avis Preferred profile to see if it's set to add any options like GPS or insurance.

If that's not the case, try booking both with and without logging in and inspecting the pricing section and see if the base rate is going up when logged in, or whether it's some other line item in the taxes and fees section.

Lastly, you can just book with your preferred AWD when you're logged in at Avis and then enter it for tracking on AutoSlash. Our system should find the lower rate. It's possible you will be able to re-book with us at the lower rate and bypass the annoying Avis.com pricing bug. Note that there is a place on the checkout screen when you book though us to enter your Avis Preferred member number.

Visa cardholders discount (B204400)

Has anyone booked with this this year?

Do you have to book using a VISA card or can you pay using a Mastercard and so long as you possess a Visa you're all good?

Thanks

This post was moved as it is not a Hertz code (moved to the Avis forum) and was not relivent to the Hertz young renters thread.

Avis mods, please move the post to the thread that will best fit here.

Thanks!
