As of 2/12/14: We've had quite a few "Hey, come use this AWD. It's great" type of posts. When the AWD doesn't give a good discount, but is only posted to try to get renters to use the AWD of someone so the poster can earn free days from their Avis Corporate account. From here out, please put the company/trade group/etc that's associated with the AWD or we'll delete the post to keep it on-topic here.

I am trying to book a car in May for LAX. I have been reading quite a bit in this thread noting that the Bombadier codes they usually check for ID. If I am checked, can I just give them one that is valid (like Costco) and they will change it on the spot and it is good? Thanks for your help!

And no, at that point, the jig is up. You've lost. You can't just switch to the Costco code. Either pay the walk-up rate or literally walk with your tail between your legs. There are so many legitimate ways to get a great rate, why bother taking a chance using a discount you're not authorized for?

There is no code that is more or less likely to get checked when you're using a corporate code you're not authorized for. If the agent is going to check they are going to check regardless if it says ABC Corp Employees or XYZ Corp Employees. Think about it logically.... It's not like they're going to say, "Hmm... This guys looks like he could work for Microsoft, but I just don't see him being a Bombardier guys, so I better make sure."

Rates change all the time. Even if you have the best rate available today, there may be something better tomorrow. Best to keep checking use the link below to track it. You may find that you can do even better than the corporate code, assuming that you have a bit of time before your pickup date.

I will be in Germany in May and trying to get the best price on Avis. Would I be better off trying to book through the German Avis web site or the US site? Maybe specific codes exist for the German site? It seems I cannot use any of the US coupon codes and apply to my rental at the Munich airport location.
Thanks,
Jeff

Best to check with US and German sites as prices can vary widely. US coupons won't work outside US/CA/MX/PR. There are some deals on the Avis German website here (English translation). You can also use the links below to request a quote from AutoSlash.
Thanks,
Jeff
