Avis Points AND AA Miles

Avis Points AND AA Miles
Was in need of some points to top off my AA status. Booked a car through aadvantagecars, used the AA AWD (“Up to 5k offer” - promo that was active in feb) and gave my AA number. At some point I added my wizard number also to see my reservation on my account
receipt shows “estimated travel partner points: 3000” and earned is blank. Was also charged FFP fee.
After my rental I noticed I was given Avis points. Realized my account is setup to earn Avis points but immediately changed it to AA miles.
will this be a problem when it comes to earning AA miles? I understood in could only earn one or another. Can I call to remove to Avis points to better ensure I get AA miles? Help?!

You will earn AAdvantage miles on future rentals. There is no way to retroactively get AA miles for a rental you've already been awarded Avis points or to reverse the Avis points and credit to AA instead.

Be careful here. Some corporate agreements (like mine!) preclude earning airmiles vs Avis points. I did not know this and had about two years' worth of Avis points go poof because I thought I was earning AA miles/LPs. Nope!
The fix would be for this option to disappear in these cases. Unsure how that could happen, but at least a warning to check with your company's travel manager would be nice.
