What the heck?

I'm a Hertz guy but my company requires me to use Avis, I've become Presidents Club and have 6000 points and two free days certs. Points build slowly, cars are dirty, rarely pre-assisgned cars. Twice I've been given a car with no gas and once without a license plate. Hertz is so much better....waah

I go to book a res and it will only let me input one coupon, which I was not surprised about, then it says it can't be used on OW (locations are 22 miles apart BTW).

So I decide to just use points but it does not give me that option at check-out. Of course the chat is not working today (no staffing)

How do you use these worthless points and/or useless free day certs?

Which is why I switched my earning to AA miles/LPs, because Avis awards are useless and my corporate rate on personal rentals is awesome.

We can't seem to get any frequent flyer credit from our Avis rentals. They always respond that our excellent corporate rate is ineligible.

Excellent corporate rates? For leisure travel? I'm surprised they're still available. Don't worry so much about the rewards, given the exorbitant retail prices and shortages. Enjoy what you have while it lasts.

First time ever had to show corp.ID at major airport. Asked by a guy sitting in Preferred Booth, in presence of the obvious pair of trainees. Funny that could be completely avoided by using the App to go straight to assigned car.

On headline subject: I used one 700-point opportunity, and two 1400-opportunities. Paid just some tax, which could be under a buck at a local location. But all car-groups at FLL were marked "regularly priced" and (thus??) "not eligible for point redemption" that day. What's up with that?

I absolutely hate the Avis website but I'm beyond infuriated that I can't even book a rental with points. This has been happening to me for weeks. First time I'm ever trying to use my points before they all expire. I get to the final page, click Confirm and this is all that ever appears. Both website and mobile app. I have plenty of points in my account.

And apologies if Avis was down for you guys recently. It seems every single time this happens to me the entire Avis website goes down and can't even search for a normal rental. This is verified by going to different browsers and different computers and the website can't even search for a rental. Usually fixes itself within 30 minutes.

same. And I called to book it. The lady messes up. I end up having to call a second time. Then they try to add insurance to my booking I tell them it was quoted as $29 not $50 online. They instantly remove the insurance and it becomes $29.

Also received this message approximately every other day for three weeks, but I was finally able to use points on Avis' website.

I've kept my account active but somehow still managed to have points expire. After a lot of back and forth with customer service they were restored. Has anyone had success getting them swapped out for airline or hotel miles? I like the company, but don't like that the lack of redemption options. I plan to earn airline miles in the future.

I still can't even get the option to use points to appear during the reservation process. It randomly showed up the other day one time but other than that whenever I make bookings, it doesn't give me the option to even try to use points.

I received a promo early last month for earning free days - figured I'd share here - signup still works.

https://www.avis.com/en/loyalty-profile/freedays#/

In other news, has anyone found a good use for points? I've accumulated over 10k and don't really know what to do with it.
They only work in the US IIRC?

Thanks

Got asked if I wanted to use points in the app this week for a booking I was making at YYC...seemed like it would only take points for 1 day of the 4 day rental even though I had more points accrued than another day or 2 would have cost...never had any idea what I was going to do with those Avis points anyways so I'll take it as a win!

So update...picked up the Car at YYC last night, fairly efficient process although it seemed like the agent wasn't sure how to process a rental that was partly paid for by points. It now appears that I'm being charged the original reservation amount and the points show as deducted from my account...will be interesting to see the final bill on Tuesday.
