Changing drop-off location
Hi,
I've been feeling under the weather for quite some time and am slated to return the car in LAX in a couple of days. I'm not super excited about the 6+ hour drive to LAX from Phoenix.
I was thinking of maybe seeing if Avis is willing to let me drop the car off in PHX instead - the car itself has an Arizona plate so I assume it is from here to begin with. Then I'll just take a flight back to LA.
Anyway - just wondering who I contact in this case? Is it Avis central customer service; the LAX Avis or PHX Avis? Does anyone know?
Thank you so much for the help!

I'm not sure if you can use the change/cancel/modify reservation function on avis.com once you have already picked up the car, but I would try that first. If it does not work, just call Avis, and one of the phone-tree options is if you're calling about a reservation for which you have already picked up the car.
Where did you pick up the car?

I wouldn't assume a good rate just because the car is originally from Phoenix. Between corporate stores, plates usually don't matter. Supply, demand, and forecasted usage does. Right now Phoenix is in the very hot summer low season. One-way rates out of there will usually be cheaper than inbound.

Good luck getting anyone on the phone at a local place. Just call CS and see what they quote you. You can try the "I'm sick" pity party and see if the agent is able to do anything for the rate, but all bets are off. Good luck and hope you feel better!
