I have my suspicion that the bonus miles promotions are run by an airline's FFP rather than a car rental company. I'm now pursuing Qatar for the bonus miles that they owe... Let's see if that works out which might serve as a data point to how these work.

That’s what I always thought but the FFPs always push me back to the rental companies, which means you have to find the right contact at the rental company. When AFKL Flying Blue had the Avis Accumulator promotion all missing miles had to be claimed directly from Avis, a process which had its own breed of complications, problems and frustrations. I still think that the rant I wrote against Avis in another thread is fully justified.

Interesting because I contacted Emirates (missing miles with partner claim online) over some missing bonus skywards miles from a rental back at the beginning of December. The skywards team successfully chased it with Avis and I received my bonus miles today, a few weeks after raising the claim...

Maybe they’re more prepared, more inclined, to do the legwork than other FFPs. Miles & More always sends me back to the rental companies, as does Flying Blue.

My claim has been rejected the reason given that the miles have already been credited, which they haven't. Avis is just to hard to deal with. I will fight them on this forever.

Just had some Avios posted. Instead of 5000 I got only 2250. I hope they dont think I will go away after this insult.

Yesterday, some avios posted to my BA account for a car hire on 1 November last year.

I was quite happy to get 3,000 avios (2,250 + 750 "loyalty bonus") for a 1 day hire that cost only 23.72 (about US$31) in total including all taxes.

Can I just say how frustrating it is when airlines direct you back to the Avis website for claims, especially when Avis is so unresponsive? It's such a hassle!
