Valid BCD Codes

Update on the code X797726. I called Budget today pretending to be interested in making a reservation using this code. I told them that a friend suggested this code. The representative didn't blink, but continued to try to book me the reservation using the code. Before it was finalized, I said that I wasn't interested at this time, but was just wondering if I would be able to use this code. She said this particular code is a "business code". I asked if I needed to show any sort of identification to use it, and she said that I'd have to show ID for this particular business. I'm sure that MOST of the codes that are found online are specific to certain businesses, and I'm sure most times they don't bother asking for the ID. BUT....just a word of warning. I'd love to hear someone's success story using this code before my trip. I think what I might do is book 2 reservations, one with this code and one with the generic Walmart code from mousesavers.com. That way, if they refuse this code, I'll have a backup. Has anyone ever done this before? As long as I didn't provide a credit card number at the time of reservation, they can't charge me if I don't use one of them right?? If anyone has any experience with this, please let me know! Thanks!
If you are so afraid of problems, just use the generic Walmart code.

Welcome to FT! I hope you'll realize that your strategy is simply the opposite of what you should do: Don't raise attention by calling and asking questions and don't raise attention by making suspicious double bookings.
If you are so afraid of problems, just use the generic Walmart code.

I travel fairly frequently, but to be honest usually don't have any need to rent a car, so I'm kinda new to this process. I'm definitely new to the whol promo code strategy, as in the past i just booked things and they cost what they cost. I've recently begun looking for promo codes for various things to save some $$ where I can in this tough economy.
So, I have a question! What's worst case scenerio if they reject my reservation using this code? Will they gouge me with some ridiculous rate since basically I'd be standing at their desk without a reservation? Seems like they'd realize they had me in a tough spot and would try to squeeze my wallet, given the circumstances. So, if they would happen to reject this code, could I prepare myself by having the generic Walmart customer code ready to use if necessary? I guess what I'm asking is, will rates be different for me if I walked up to the desk without an existing reservation, as opposed to booking 3 months in advance? Again, I appreciate your patience, since I'm a true "newbie" at this stuff. Thanks!

I double-booked for the end of March at Orlando using X797726 and U071101. "U0" gets me a full-size SUV (I have 5 plus luggage) for about $330 total and "X7" came in at $247 for the same vehicle. Using no code was pusing $500, which is of course jacked up for spring break. I also registered with RapidRez & Fastbreak to bypass the counter and just pick a car and go.
From what I've read at Budget you don't get charged for the reservation - is that true? If so I can keep both and hope one works.
I wonder if the lot attendant asks to see my company ID for "X7" if I could hand her a $20 bill and tell her I work for the Jackson Corporation?
If I knew the company it would be reasonably easy to make a business card with their logo and my name - there's no law against impersonating a salesman is there?

Hey Tenacious D! I considered doing the same thing. I saved about $60 for the week with the "X7" code, but I'm a little nervous about using it. But jarino made a good point. Double-booking with two different codes could probably draw some unwanted attention/suspicion. I think I'm just gonna take my chances for now and keep the reservation with the X7 code. If they reject me, I'll just give them the other code and book using that. Good idea signing up for the RapidRez and Fastbreak. I did that too. I have no idea what company that code came from, so I'm no help in that department. I'm gonna keep watching the forums and hope someone posts a success story with the code. I kinda doubt they'll ask, but I guess ya never know. Good luck! When are you traveling?? Maybe YOU can be my guinea pig and test it out first!

I think I'll cancel one of these Budgets and make one with National as my backup per jarino's suggestion.
Edit: I googled for "conference orlando 2009 avis awd" etc. and found an Avis code (D150060) from the American Society for Quality for several educational programs during the week I'm arriving in Orlando. Still $80-90 higher than the Budget X7 but it will serve as a good backup that shouldn't require any ID; I did print out the course outline though.
I just hope my boss doesn't actually make me go to it.
Good luck,
Ten-D

Good point about the double reservation. I suppose that would seem a little suspicious. As far as calling and asking someone about it, I never gave my name or any personal info, so I can't see how they would connect me personally with this code. But again, I see your point.

For car rental scenario, the best you can do is to pick up a backup reservation at another place.

I'd love to know what this code is attached to... I haven't found much via the net that shows what this BCD affiliated with... I'm using this code for a nonairport rental and just want to make sure I don't have to treck all over my city to go to another counter.

It worked at both LAX and Long Beach downtown office. (2 one-way dropoffs for pre and post cruise). The agent commented about how a good rate it was, and I said it was from Convention. And she said Oh, no wonder.

Dude, for any kind of "deal", first rule is no call. We are not talking about getting yourself busted, but for the rest of the gang. If everyone flooded their customer service with the same question, can I use this or that code, can I get this or that price, they will know something is going on. The result would just be getting everyone's order cancelled or loophole filled, eventually no deal for nobody.

I challenge anyone to find a better rate code than the SWN Rapid Rewards code that gives you 40% off...Codes that ask for ID dont count.. Not that many do except for Budget employees.
