Changing Drivers

Has anybody had experience changing Primary drivers halfway through a rental?

Is there a fee involved, or will I just have to make a trip back to the rental agency? I don't need two drivers to be on contract simultaneously, so I'm trying to avoid that $25/day fee.

Some corporate AWD do allow you multiuple driver w/o any rate increase.

Otherwise, I am not aware you can do such a change.

I did this in MIA before, when a colleague flew in a day later, but stayed later as well. Pretty easy - just went in and had them change the name.

Of course, they don't ID when you return the car, so if the person is with you when you get the car, just add them as a second driver. Or tempt fate and don't officially register them on the car.
