Use A108300 & UA Car certs on same rental?
I need to get a 2 day rental this weekend.. I've got 2 UA certs, getting me a free day. However, I'd like to use AWD A108300 for the cheaper rates (for the 2nd day which i'm paying for).
Is this possible? Do I just go ahead and book the rental with the AWD code above? Do I have to inform the agents ahead of time on the phone that i'll be using UA certs, and is there a "required" AWD code that I have to use with the certs?
Thanks in advance,
Darq

I have tried many times in the past without success to use other AWD #'s. You must use the UA AWD # which is K019300. It doesn't matter much if you have enough UA certs to cover the entire rental, in which case you only pay taxes, but in your situation you will be stuck paying the higher UA rate. One free day still beats no free days!

Thanks, MileKing!
Here's my DETAILED scenario:
- This is for a rental in Northern California
- I've got 3 valid UA coupons, and 3 expired ones.
- I'd like to keep the car 3 days, but I'd need to pick it up Saturday noon and drop it off on Tuesday noon.. they would charge more for the Mon-Tue (weekday) portion. So, I'm only renting for 2 days (dropping off Monday instead) and having a friend drive me around on Monday/Tuesday.
- I live in NYC, so i sold my car years ago
- Because of the above, I don't have car insurance. According to my (NEA) credit card, I have to charge at least one full day to get insurance coverage, but I still have to pay for 2 days worth of liability insurance.
- I'm traveling with my brother, who has his own insurance, but he's only 24 3/4, which would cost $20 a day (surcharge) at certain companies (Avis won't even rent to him)
Taking all of the above into account, I've decided to use 2 UA certs to get one free day (on my 2 day rental). Since I'm paying for 1 full day, my credit card covers my damage insurance, while I pay extra for the liability insurance. Overall costs for 2 weekend days, with liability insurace and (credit card) damage insurance: about $45
Am i missing anything? Is there something else I should be looking into?
Thanks again!
