I just got my Avis First packet in the mail the other day (after having crossed to Avis First almost a month ago), and in there it says I have to go online and "activate" my First membership to get all the benefits.
Huh? So I'm not First when Avis.com says I'm First, I'm not First when I get my card, I'm only really really First when I Activate???

Fancy-looking card.
Promised upgrades when available. (They're no longer promised for those who are just Preferred, though especially from economy to compact they're still pretty common for those who are just Preferred. And, of course, with the new Select & Go, upgrades from economy -- often mutliple classes up -- are basically guaranteed at those locations for Preferred; but far from every location is Select & Go.)
A "free" 2-day weekend certificate when you're first upgraded to Avis Frist and then Activate online. (Though there are restrictions which make some people not think of even this as a benefit.)
That's about it if you are into collecting airline miles and/or hotel points and/or rail points on your car rentals. See, there's supposedly more free days you can earn, but you only earn them on rentals on which you don't collect any partner (airline/hotel/rail) points/miles. So for those of us who "follow the promos" and are always collecting airline/hotel/rail points/miles, there's no such thing as earning free rental days as Avis First.

How do you find how many rental days you've had? I think I'll have less than 12 trips, but have an 11 day rental coming up so I think I can hit the 35 rental day thing.
I only see the past 5 rentals on my account when I log into Avis?

Pretty frustrating, I hope those past rentals are not lost.
