Avis.com refresh

Avis.com got refreshed sometime today. the main page is stylized with an image of the Chevy Cruz in the background. There are two new header links for Avis local and to reprint a receipt. Once you login to your account, the Avis local link disappears. Overall, it is a nice improvement to the stuffy old home page.

Ha, considering according to their website that the Chevy Cruze is a SPECIALTY car? I'm thinking a Cobalt is in your future for awhile.

Now why AVIS considers this specialty, on the lines with all the other fun things, is beyond me.

Has anyone actually received a Cruze? What class is it really in?

What class does it say the vehicle belongs in though?

Unfortunately, he doesn't know how to log on to Avis.com. I know that's a cardinal sin to most of us here, but he's 65 and computers aren't his thing.

Doesn't require logging to avis.com, and I don't even know if that would tell you (at least before you return the car and can see a copy of the rental receipt).

It might be on the rental "tag" (card that you get with the rental), and/or on the receipt at the end of the rental. Both of these are old-fashioned ink on paper.

Ok, so it'll only give the car class as a letter. But if you find out that letter, we can decode it for you.

I asked him yesterday to scour the receipt for the car class and he said he'd do so after locating the receipt. Unfortunately, he's home-based, so he's not here for me to pester/look at the receipt myself. He's of the type:
-I show up at the airport and get upgraded, GREAT! If not, whatever. I have no idea how the process works and don't have any intention of looking into it.
-I take whatever car is pre-assigned in my spot without ever asking for something that I might prefer. As he's told me, "A car is a car, as long as it doesn't break down, I don't car what I'm in."
-I take the room that the hotel puts me in, even "if it's dreadful," in his terms.

I'm not confident that he'll find anything on the receipt, but if I hear back, I'll be sure to post.
