Time to time they will sell them or they will end up just giving the most elite business PAX the F seats when available. Buy ups at OLCI or Check-in that I've never heard of yet.

I have had some success with this on the 747's by just requesting the seat assignment of 1D or similar. It seems to work if one calls in. Your mileage may vary.

I just did an aeroplan reservation for April 2017 with a segment on OZ 721 which is a 74E. My confirmation shows that I have seat 2K. According to SeatGuru, this is F. I was hoping to be seated upstairs, but I guess first class would do, even with J service
Since I don't have a reservation number, I can't confirm with on Asian's site.

This job is on-going. New configurations are updated at Asiana website.
Among 11, 4 777 had FCY. F is removed for 2 of them and became 24C277Y, and the third aircraft is in conversion. Soon all will be marked as '77L'. 2 '772', the angled C seaters, will retire in the middle of or later this year, leaving a total of 9 777.
Among 4 747s Asiana had in 2015, 2 combi's were converted to cargo and 1 pax version got reduced C and increased Y. 10F45C304Y became 10F24C364Y. F wasn't removed despite the initial announcement. Still angled business seats. The second and last pax version is currently out of service presumably for the same re-configuring work.
Among 7 767s, at least 2 (and possibly 1 more) became 290-seater. Additional 20 Y seats replace center galley/lav. These 290-seaters are running for GMP-Jeju exclusively.
