Welcome to FT. Not sure if you realise, but you've just quoted a 5 year old message. There have been policy changes.

If you need to make changes to your booking, the best and easiest thing to do is contact whoever you booked through, whether that be your travel agent or the airline direct. Be aware that most changes these days are no longer free...

Also, if you booked through a travel aggregator website, such as Expedia, you'll need to contact that specific website.
