Difference between Fare Basis and Fare type?

Hi,

I have a question, and I've looked around for a bit, and can't seem to find the answer.

What's the difference between Fare Basis and Fare Type?

That is, I'm looking on an Asiana Fare Rules and Restrictions document, and I see that the Fare Basis is HKXEE. So that's H class, and I think that's okay. However, I also see that there's a Fare Type, which is XEX, which may not be so good. So my question is, what is the difference? Is one for booking the other for the fare?

Thanks
David
