About 15 years ago, on a flight to Singapore from probably Tokyo, we made an unscheduled stop somewhere in the South Pacific, but were kept on the plane. I remember it seemed as if there were 2 small islands, with the airport/runway joining them together. Does anyone have any idea where this might have been.

sounds vey much like an airfield in the mariannes islands BUT that wouldn't have been on your flight path, and it wouldn't take a commercial jet, it more than likely was in the Philipines, but it's fun, let's narrow it down, can you remember the plane, the airline, how far out of Tokyo were you.
Are you sure it was ex Japan?
