Kabul ..... for holiday!

OK, don't laugh. I'm seriously considering this for my 30th birthday at the end of May. Has anyone been to Kabul for work recently? My only concern is safetly. I am white British ... but have a beard :-) Do I need a local with me to get around or am I safe to wonder in the daytime?

Sorry for being curious.. but why Kabul for holiday? Don't think it is safe for anyone at the moment.. not even for it's own people...

Well I there is more traffic picking up and indeed people are going to visit. I've wanted to go for sometime and thought of it. Apparently Kabul is the safest part of the country. Most (not all) of the violence is in the countryside and other cities.

Kabul

With the exception of the recent hotel bombing, Kabul has been quite safe and chock full of westerners. Unfortunately, this single act has pretty much cleaned out the place
