You should put all of your questions about Indonesia in one thread

And to answer your question, either SIN or KUL should be good.

I would try using one of the Indonesian LCC's called Adam Air. Buy the ticket from a local agent and save.

Plenty of options out of Jakarta, cheap options include:

www.flyadamair.com - out to Singapore - twice a day (they originate in Jakarta so should be possible to do same plane turn-around).
www.jetstar.com - also out to Singapore - three times a day (they fly the Valuair jets on the Indonesian routes, so better legroom than the other jetstar routes - but start from Singapore, so will have longer layover between flights).
You can also get some pretty cheap deals on Garuda as well if you go through local travel agents in Jakarta, especially for 7 days or less validity tickets.

To Kuala Lumpur you can take www.airasia.com or KLM has pretty cheap tickets too (under US$100 return, though would need to overnight in KL on those flights).

Your other option is to take a cheap flight to Batam from Jakarta and then take a fast ferry to Singapore and back - again, can book at www.airasia.com for this. Might be marginally cheaper, but would take a whole lot more time and not so worthwhile these days with such cheap flights to SIN or KUL available now.
