PEK Pitfalls

Just got back from Beijing. Overall, a very good trip but the airport, newly built for the Olympics, still has a few kinks to work out. First and foremost, upon arrival I would strongly recommend having your hotel or office arrange to pick you up via shuttle. The taxis from the airport can be very pricey, and in addition new arrivals are often beset by pushy people offering "special taxi service", i.e. private cars offering rides at very inflated prices. Be careful! Also, the international departures terminal has many souvenir shopes but no newspaper or magazine stores, so bring your own reading material...
