Open Jaw Scheduling Help

Moderators: If this needs to be moved to a better location, please do so.

I'm looking for help booking a long trip to four Asian destinations, but am unsure what leg(s) would be best left out to give us the best bang for our buck open-jaw wise. We have two possible routes:

Option 1
ORD-PEK
PEK-HKG
HKG-PVG
PVG-HND or NRT
HND/NRT-ORD

Option 2
ORD-PEK
PEK-PVG
PVG-HKG
HKG-HND or NRT
HND/NRT-ORD

Thanks in advance!

Why would you want open jaw? These seem to be simple returns with stop-over, and would probably price lower as such.
I suggest you contact a competent travel agent to put it together.

One thing I can throw into the mix - Option 1 permits you to take advantage of TWOV transit without visa which would give you up to 144hrs in the greater Beijing area, and after HKG up to 144hrs in the greater Shanghai area, and eliminates the need to pony up for a multiple entry tourist visa - which for a US citizen is (I think) an expensive 10 year multiple entry visa. There's more detail and recent experiences in the China forum TWOV thread.

China 24, 72, and 144 hour Transit Without Visa ("TWOV") rules master thread

Whilst option 2 can do TWOV your entry is limited to 24hrs as you want to enter and leave in different TWOV regions.

Option 2 looks more efficient to me, assuming you have a PRC visa. I'll also point out that you can use SHA (instead of PVG) to/from BJS (PEK and PKX), HKG, and HND. This usually saves a lot of time.

We will be headed to Shanghai Disneyland, so PVG is still ideal, correct?

Disney is definitely much closer to PVG, but assuming you want to finish off your stay in Shanghai city, leaving from SHA would be optimal. Their international operation is exceptionally efficient.
