Colombo tour guide?

I have a connection in CMB for about 10 hours and want to head out to see the city. Can anyone recommend a private tour guide with whom they had good experience? I booked something on Viator but the tour company never responded to any of my messages so I ended up canceling. Thanks!

Hi,

When I visited Sri-Lanka in 2016, I hired "Traumland Tours" for a private tour and would recommend them in a heartbeat.
Not sure if they offer 1 day trip but you may check with them.

Check Ceylon Tours. I have always done it through them. Very knowledgeable guides who can speak English and with good quality cars. They have airport Representatives 24 hours and will pick you up from the airport and return you to the airport.

Thank you both. I contacted both, Traumland only after I booked, but got no response from either. Same experience as what I had when I booked a tour through Viator.

I think there are a lot of little one-man tour operations there. So sometimes you don't get a response very quickly. I took a trip there a few years ago and communication before the trip was very spotty as the guide was out with other guests at the time. It was frustrating. In the end it was a great trip and I am going back in a couple of months with the same person. But I certainly had to adjust expectations to a degree. Once you are there the hospitality is fantastic. But the tourism business is still young there.
