Cultural Shows, Dances & Performances In Kuala Lumpur

In this thread, you will find a list of cultural shows, dances and performances available in Kuala Lumpur. I hope it will be a good reference for every traveler who visiting KL



1) MUD Kuala Lumpur

Probably the most hip cultural performance in KL nowadays, MUD Kuala Lumpur bringing to you a musical show about the history of KL city in a fun and interactive way. This show involves singing, acting and dancing along with some magical special effects added for a nice touch. MUD Kuala Lumpur staged twice daily at the historical building of City Theatre-Panggung Bandaraya in Dataran Merdeka (Merdeka Square)

2) Matic Cultural Dance Show

On every Monday-Saturday, there will be a free cultural show held at the mini auditorium of Malaysia Tourism Centre which also known as “Matic”. In this 1 hour performance, audiences will be enchanted by the beautiful group of dancers performing colorful traditional Malaysian dances. Occasionally, there is also a musical theater performance being held there in Tunku Abdul Rahman Hall.

3) Saturday Nite Out

On every Saturday evening, there will be a cultural show called "Saturday Nite Out" performed on stage at the parking area of Central Market (Pasar Seni) along with street busking, food trucks and car boot sale. There are also some traditional costumes available for you to wear and snap a lot of photos.

4) Songket Restaurant Live Entertainment

Songket Restaurant is 1 of the fine dining Malay restaurants that you can find in KL. And 1 of its attractions is the live cultural performance that being held 6 times weekly. Guests can enjoy the fun and entertaining show while having their sumptuous dinner.

5) D’Saji Titiwangsa Restaurant Cultural Show

D’Saji Titiwangsa Restaurant is a floating restaurant located in Taman Tasik Titiwangsa (Titiwangsa Lake Garden) which is famous for its wide spread of buffet served during breakfast, lunch and dinner. Here, there is also a live cultural show performed every night on the restaurant’s floating stage.

6) KL Tower Cultural Show

Every day at the KL Tower’s (Menara KL) lobby, there will a group of traditional dancers and musicians dancing and playing musical instruments to entertain the guests. This can be a good alternative activity for those who do not wish to go up to the top floor of the tower.

7) Istana Budaya

Istana Budaya which translated as “Palace of Culture” is the national theater of Malaysia. It is located in Taman Tasik Titiwangsa. Almost in every month of the year, there will be musical theaters, concerts and even orchestras staged there.

8) Citrawarna

Citrawarna or “Colors of Malaysia” is an annual cultural celebration which normally held on the street of Dataran Merdeka (Merdeka Square). In this event, there will be a parade of dancers from all over the states and communities in Malaysia featuring colorful costumes and performances. At the end of the night, a winner will be announced for the best performance. Every year, the event will come with a different theme. In Citrawarna 2016, the theme was “Myth & Folklore”. Please also take note that under certain circumstances, Citrawarna will not be held in Dataran Merdeka but rather, in somewhere else. Thus, you need to keep update with the latest announcement.
